Mini Update

I would first like to thank everyone for their condolences, it was much appreciated.

Everyday is getting a little better for us but there are still some moments that just sneak up on me and I lose it, I still turn around to say good bye to her when I leave the house or call for her when I get home but I know that will pass in time.

Pookie's ashes are now back home and are in a beautiful pink iridescent urn that totally scream pookie. We didn't realize how much stuff we purchased over the years for her so we are now looking for the perfect rubber mate container to hold all her clothes, stuffed animals, dishes and blankets. I did mention to the parents that if/when another dog was brought into the family we could reuse these items, but there are a couple items I would prefer that we didn't reuse so I will be taken those items myself as keepsakes.

On the cross stitch front I was hoping to be finished Deck the Halls before Christmas but with the pookie situation and my emotional state I didn't really touch the picture until yesterday so I will just plug away and do my best.

My Christmas was nice and I got pretty much everything I asked for and my gifts were well received by other.....I also got money to place a couple craft orders which are now on their way to me so on the whole it wasn't the best but it was still pretty good Christmas.

So Seasons Grettings and see you all in the New Year!!!

Heavy Heart

I have such a heavy heart today, we (my parents & I) made the decision to put pookie down. It's like there was an invisible switch that got hit during the first week of November and she went downhill from there, it was so bad she literally was vanishing in front of our eyes, the weight was just falling off. We had been feeding her baby food by syringe for awhile now to give her more nutrients and for the past 5 days that's all she has been eating. We were having to carry her outside to do her business because she was having difficult walking and would no longer jump on her little benches we had beside my bed and the couch (to help her get up) and I think the final straw for me was her constantly swaying back and forth and pained/dazed look on her face like she didn't know where she was. We had discussed waiting until after Christmas but as my mom said the stress of all the family get togethers would be to much for her and making her wait would just be cruel, she doesn't like a lot of people around because everyone is so much bigger then her so she usually hides in a basket of blankets we have but with her not walking very well I was afraid she would trip and break something. So at around 3:00 pm she peaceful went to sleep in my Dad arms with her favorite blanket around her. I'm glad I got to spend really good cuddle time with her last night so I could say my good byes privately.

I went to work today to keep my mind occupied but I really don't think it was a good idea and I'm having a really hard time now that I'm home walking into my room where there are signs of her everywhere. I don't think I have every love someone as much as I loved my little pookie bear who was hand delivered to us at 6 months old and lived to be 15 years old.

I just hurt all over.........

Calm before the Storm

I have been very quiet of late working steadily on Deck the Halls...which is the calm. I am just loving this design and the specialty stitches aren't half bad I am getting as much practise as I can so that when I hit the specialty stitches in Egyptian Garden by Chatelaine it won't be to difficult to do.

I am hoping to finish Deck the Halls before Christmas which will make my total of completed pictures this year to 19 which is the most I think I've every completed in one year. If I don't finish before Christmas that will be no big deal since I am off between Christmas and New Years so it will get done then.

Now the storm is coming in the form of gift exchanges, Christmas food shopping and various other tasks that now have to be completed since Christmas is just around the corner, so I figure this weekend will be the last weekend I will be able to work on Deck the Halls uninterrupted, I will probably only be able to work on it on the train and on my lunch after that because I will be so busy after work so it is a very good thing that it's turning into a fast design to complete and is small because I definitely wouldn't have had time for anything bigger.

So hopefully you will hear from me soon with my latest completion or at least a WIP picture.

Happy Dance Finally

Well after bitching and gripping for awhile I have finally finished Garden Party. Now don’t get me wrong I love the design, thread colors etc it’s just for a pattern that size it shouldn’t have taken this long. Anyway onward and upward.

I can now work solely on Deck the Halls and I’m very excited about that because this pattern is just smoking I have been stitching at lunch and when I do I always seem to get a nice chunk done so I can just imagine how much I can get done at home now with GP is done. I am taking my time with the specialty stitches though since most are brand new to me.

I have also kitted up Cut thru North Pole by Bothy designs and put in a couple stitches. Now the reason why I have kitted up Cut thru is since Deck the Halls is going so fast it won’t be long before I need another project and I always like to be prepared.

I have been very impressed with the number of pictures I finished this year and I’m hoping whatever groove I was able to create will continue for next year and really enjoy each picture as they come.

Snow

Sorry for the run by posting. I have about 20 stitches left on Garden Party so I don't really want to do a post until I have a picture or pictures to go with it. But I just have to say something LOL.

Would Mother Nature let it snow already for pity sakes I'm freezing my ass off everyday waiting for the train and I would be more accepting of this if there was snow to watch and enjoy. I am actually jealous of all the people who have snow already which is actually kind of funny.

Any way thanks for listening.

Slow

Well I am still plugging away on Garden Party Butterfly, just because I want to be done with the design it’s taking forever to finish, oh well!! As for Deck the Halls I’m really enjoying it now that I’ve gotten my groove on. I decided to use a bigger needle after all for the perle cotton stitches and I think it’s working like a hot damn. I have finished the trees and some of the red ribbons in two locations. I even did some specialty stitches that I’ve never tried before, it took a little to get used to and I had to redo a couple of them three times but overall I’m really satisfied with them now. I think they are called leviathan stitches or more commonly know as smyra crosses. I am then suppose to put a plus sign type stitch over top of them but I’m on the fence about that right now because they look so good as is, so I think I will wait till I get further in the design before deciding. I will be working on Deck the Halls solely once I finished Garden Party so my progress will definitely pick up speed then which should give me a better look a the design to then decide what to do. Hopefully I can post a finish and a WIP picture for you later on tonight.

Thanks for listening.

Finally My Update

I can’t believe how busy I have been, it’s almost like unconsciously as soon as it hit December 1st tasks that have to get accomplished starting springing out of the woodwork.

So I had some vacation the week of November 23 and my goal was to finish 4 if not 5 patterns that were close to being finished. I am happy to report I finished 4 of the patterns, I was also able to do quite a few Christmas tasks, house cleaning and baking tasks I had on my list. So my vacation was very productive.

So which patterns did I finish you may ask.

#1. I finished Garden Party – Bumble Bee. Now all that is left is Butterfly and for some reason it’s going a little slow right now but I’m hoping I can pick up the speed and finish her before the weekend is out.

#2 Cirque des Cercles – YAH. I am so happy about this finish, I really did begin to like this pattern again once I hit the half way point and figured out a style of stitching that worked for me, so I am a little sad that I’m finished but since I have the other 2 cirques I think I’ll be fine LOL

#3 Grace Tree Ornament – this is by M design and I stitched it using Carrie Creations peppermint thread and I decided not to add the beads since the threads coloring made the picture busy enough. I am a great fan of Carrie threads and I have quite a few but for some reason this thread was a bit of a disappointment. The thread is suppose to be green, slight fading of green into white, white, pink going into red. As you may or may not notice there isn’t much white at all. For some reason when I started stitching the pink bleeding section seemed to get bigger as I stitched almost like every time I went through the holes of my aida the red got pushed farther down the thread. I even started to cut up the skeins I was working on so the white and red had little contact but it still seemed to go pink…..oh well. I still love the finished design I just wished there was more white.

#4 Nutcracker Mill Hill – this is actually my first Mill Hill ornament, I have stitched a brookes book designs before so it wasn’t a complete surprise to me on how to stitch this one . I have purchased a couple of the nutcracker themed ornaments and so this is the first of many to come. I haven’t actually cut up the pieces and stitched them together yet but I’m hoping to do this next week. I am actually quite fearful when I have to ‘cut’ anything associated with my patterns for fear that I’ll cut the fabric or some important stitches and ruin the design so because I feel this way I am waiting till I’m feel more confident before I complete it. I have a cut out the sword already but that was pretty easy. I also made a change to the design, instead of stitching down the silver star on the hat of said Nutcracker I used my hot glue gun. I found the kreinik cable that was in this pattern was too bulky and the star is so tiny that once I stitched it up the cable overshadowed the star, making it look messy and unable to see, in the alternative I think the glue did a fine job instead..

I have also started a Christmas design for the train as you can see on my right sidebar a photo of my current design which is Deck the Halls by Just Nan, I have stitched a Just Nan before but with that one I kept it on 18 count aida and altered some of the specialty stitches to fit, this time I followed the instructions and choose a count that was recommended (pattern calls for 28 or 32), I choose 28 count. I have never actually worked on 28 count before I’ve used 25 and 32 but not 28. So far it’s not too bad.

Well enough said, thanks for listening.

Everything is Back to Normal

Pookie.......ah my precious little dog is perfectly fine now and we didn't have to put her down. Thank God.

She started feeling better as soon as we made the vet appointment and started eating everything in sight. She still was kind of lethargic and swaying when she walked because of no food but that eventually went away. The vet wasn't overly concerned once she got a look at Pookie and got an understanding of what had happened, I did feel a bit like an idiot for panicking so quickly but I'd rather be a pessimist and be proven wrong then an optimist and be devastated.

The vet did give us quite a few ideas to get pookie to eat if she's having a bad day and hopefully they work because pookie did lose some weight and so now we are going to try and get the weight back on her.

The vet did stress at the end of the appointment that pookie is on borrowed time and she herself is surprised pookie has lasted this long so even though pookie is well her death will happen soon whether I like it or not, I just hope that when the time comes it is on pookie's terms (in her sleep) and not while really sick and in pain.

I would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts about this situation it was greatly appreciated.

On a different note I have been doing great on my vacation projects. I finished both GP Bumble bee and CdC, I'm still working on other projects to finished by the end of the week so I will wait to post picture till then.

My own Frustration & Fear

For whatever reason I just can’t seem to get into my cross stitch. As anyone who reads my blog knows I am very close to finishing CdC but for some reason I just can’t seem to find the time to sit down and finish it. I either have too many other tasks to complete, too tired after work or wind up playing a computer game, reading blogs etc. I think it also doesn’t help that my dog has been really sick this past week and I’m on pins and needles too see what the vet has to say about it, I’m praying to God and anyone else who will listen that I don’t have to make the decision to put her down, call me selfish but I’m not ready to lose her yet so I’m hoping she was just having a bad week and worked the sickness out herself and perhaps the vet has some ideas and techniques we can try to keep her moderately health.

I actually stepped away from the computer last night and spend the whole night with her while she slept. I stitched beside her and cuddled with her when she let me and maybe because of all the happy vibes I was sending her she started to eat and was quite perky by the time it was bed time, such a good sign.

Well I’m on vacation next week and I’m hoping I will have some finishes to post, if all goes as planned I think I could finish 4 pictures next week all of which are very close to being finished I just need the time to sit down and do them.

Thanks for listening.

HAED Christmas design

Have I shown you my work in progress on Twelve Days of Christmas by Dona Gelsinger through HAED?

This is a design I’m sporadically working on and decide to use a fabric pen to put on grid lines, it is a 30+ page design so I definitely thought it needed it. My plan is to do every stitch (no pun intended) of the bright orange and other orange family colors around the sides, top & bottom before doing the confetti work in the centre.

This is what it looked like as of last week I was a little panicked about how well I could see the blue lines behind the orange just in case it wouldn’t wash out but I took my trusty spray bottle and dripped a little water on the squares I had completed and it did wonders, there is still a bit of residue but I figure once I completely submerge the fabric it will all disappear.

I was able to stitch on it again last night and finish the top row of one of the oranges, now I will go back over that same section with the second orange and fill in the blanks and then tackle the same two oranges down the side of the first page. Last night I wanted to try another color so I also added in some creamy orange stitches in the centre (but still on the left side of the entire design).

I am still quite surprised that I purchased this pattern I'm usually not a fan of overly busy designs but for some reason this pattern called to me and I had to have it.

Well tonight I will get back to CdC, I even might work on it on Sunday instead of GP Bumblebee depending on how much I get done in the next 2 ½ days. I have not worked on CdC for 3 days so I’m ready to get back to it. I’m just itching to work on Christmas designs but won’t let myself do this until Garden Party and CdC are finished.

Trying something new.

I have turned my mother to the dark side HAHA. My mother has been cross stitching for 30 – 35 years and has always made the designs she does with the one and only purpose of framing and hanging said designs on our walls and has never thought of any other ideas for her designs where I on the other hand am up to trying different types of finished in theory since I haven’t done any finished yet, but I’ve purchased all the supplies to do some pin keeps and flat folds in the future.

My mom has decided that she really would like to make monogram little satchels for some family members possibly for Christmas, she has stitched up all the letters and has gotten some really nice background fabric now all she needs to do is a practice run in making the satchels before working on the real things. I suggested she do a practice run since she has a vision in her head but no real instructions to follow and I know she would be really pissed off if she screwed one of them up after all the hard work she has put in. So hopefully everything turns out okay.

So a question to my fellow bloggers when you started making pin keeps, flat folds, satchels etc. did you have instructions to follow or did you just wing it? I know there are a lot of online instructions now but how long have they been available maybe 2 – 4 years, what did everyone do before then?

Fall has arrived

Yes, Fall has arrived to my neck of the woods the wind and rain was so bad a couple nights ago we lost power for 4 hours. I was having a really hard time crossing the street to my home because no one could see me and it was just pouring rain and the only light I had was from my blackberry phone, but finally a very nice stranger slowly drove their car through the intersection keeping pace with me so I could cross without worry of being hit. But the funny thing about that night is I was finally able to use my clip on light and was able to finish a couple circles on CdC which I was very happy about.

Now on to posting picture. Here is CdC. I now have one page left on CdC so perhaps during Remembrance Day I can finish it off and concentrate solely on Garden Party - Bumble bee and Butterfly and then after that it's Christmas designs till the end of the year...... my favorite kind of designs.

Cirque des Cercles by Ink Circle

using WDW trick or treat threads

Since the below Quaker picture was taken I have put the picture away....it wasn't calling to me anymore so I started working on Mill Hill Nutcracker which I'm almost finished but I think I'll wait until I'm on vacation in 2 weeks so I can continue the stitching and finish the beads all at the same time.

A Quaker Christmas by Bygone Stitches

using DMC variation threads 4210, 4045 and 4077

.....footnote apparently blogger doesn't like me adding my pictures and putting comments under them in the centre of the page, hmmmm so I've had to edit this post quite a bit which isn't making me very happy.

Thanks for listening

Smokin Needle

Well my wish was granted from Friday. I was able to stitch through my migraine, it lingered all day but it stayed a dull ache.

Once I got home I worked on CCN dragonfly so I could finish it which I did this afternoon. Then I switched to CdC and was able to finish the centre circles that I have been wanting to finish for about a week. So now I have 1.5 pages left and then it's completed, even though the picture started out to be quite a hassle I am really enjoying it now and I'm looking forward to doing the other two designs that Ink Circle has come out with.

I have also included a WIP picture of Woodland Enchantress since I noticed I haven't posted a picture on it in quite awhile

Friday, October 23, 2009

Oh Give me a break

I will stitch through my migraine, I will stitch through my migraine!!!!!!!

I will let you know in a couple hours whether I'm successful LOL. Just when I tell myself I will finish one of my pictures tonight this happens, I was minding my own business at work looking at my computer screen when all of a sudden everything gets all blurry which of course I recognize as an aura that is warning sign for me that a migraine is coming THANK GOD I had 2 Tylenol in my purse and I'm still thanking my lucky stars that I'm not nauseous this time either.

hopefully I will write soon thanks for listening to just another bitch blog entry.

Well

I can sure whine, don't you think.....I would like to apologies for my post yesterday LOL....I am 30 something years old you would figure I shouldn't feel the need to complain about my 'special time' anymore but alas I guess not.

Could I honestly say the back spasms was a direct result of the 'special time' most definitely, was this the first time I've had a back ache NO so I think I should have just taken the drugs and dealt with it but I was just feeling a little cranky yesterday and had to share with the world. Enough said.

In other related news I am making great progress on my various projects. So much so that I was thinking about taking CdC on the train to finish it faster since I'm so close to being finished but since it will be raining for the next couple days and since the threads I'm using (WDW) bleed so easily I ultimately decided that it wouldn't be a good idea to take it with me....I can just imagine how angry I would be if something happened and the picture was ruined. I think it's just getting to me that I'm not doing as much cross stitch in the evenings that I used to, what with chores, life tasks and getting into the holiday season I am definitely prioritizing myself differently.

Also, I didn't finish Dragonfly on Sunday for some reason I just couldn't get into it so I'm hoping this weekend will be better. I also switched from Woodland Enchantress to Christmas Quaker on Tuesday, I had a really good run on Enchantress and I'm very happy with what I got accomplished but it was time to switch it up and in trying to get into the holiday spirit I decided to bring out a Christmas design and since I fixed the problem with the yellow thread this project is going great so far.

Thanks for listening, I will try and upload my latest WIP pictures this weekend, but since I'm taking the BFF out for lunch and visiting with the godson I don't know if that will fit into my plans but we will see.

Just Great!!!!

I seriously hate being a woman sometimes, I won’t go into details…there are certain things that I think are TMI (too much information) that don’t need to be shared. My bitch today is what happens with the rest of my body during my ‘special time’ as if cramps and nausea wasn’t bad enough.

Any normal day sitting awkwardly on the train wouldn’t really do anything to me but give me a twinge that would go away once I got up and started walking around, but oh no I am actually having spasms in my lower back because of sitting strangely on the train, I also was having pains in my chest where my underwear bra was sitting awkwardly on me, as well because of the position I was forced to sit in on the train. It is raining today so everyone is wearing rain jackets and there isn’t much wiggle room to have my arms out while doing cross stitch so they were basically folded over my chest and pushed my bra out of alignment. Now back pains aren’t uncommon with my ‘special time’ but this one is really taking the cake……. sitting down is becoming very uncomfortable and I still have ½ the day of work still to get through plus my commute home which will require more sitting, at least at home I can put a pillow behind my back and try and live through it.

Edited to add after 3 excruciating hours I think my back has calmed down enough where I can tolerate it until I get home and medicate myself….maybe it was the Advil I took earlier.

Progress for me

Well I am not feeling completely better yet from my cold but I definitely can see the light at the end of the tunnel..

I was also able to stitch while sick, usually it’s not a good idea for me to do this but I went very carefully and slowly and nothing earth shattering happened to my projects in the frog department, I actually got a lot done.

I replaced all the screwed up stitching on Dragonfly and finished the inner border as well, if I’m optimistic I think I can finish this pattern on Sunday.

I worked on Woodland Enchantress, I was jumping from color to color to try and get a groove going and decided the various thickness of ½ stitches is what was bothering me so I decided to stitch on the Enchantress herself and then do the background later.

And finally I also worked on CdC, I was hoping to be finished one of the larger motifs by now but I found a mistake which slowed me down but I still have tonight and the weekend so hopefully it can still me done.

I’m so glad I found a working schedule for my three pictures and I’m going to keep going as is until such time that this schedule becomes a bother.

Thanks for listening, hopefully on Sunday I can post some WIP pictures of all three designs.

Gosh Darn It

Well today is not a good day for me I woke up with a sore throat and stuffy nose.....GREAT just what I like having a cold right before a long weekend I'm going to probably be too sick to enjoy the holiday.....then of course I was woken up a 2 am by my dog crapping on the floor, now I understand with a loose tummy you really don't have control of yourself but I really wish she had woken me up so I could have gotten her outside in time. So now when I get home from work I will be scrubbing the residual of the mess off my carpet and trying not to gag again as I do it.

And the cherry on top of this all is I found a mistake on CCN dragonfly border last night and I have to tear out about 1.5 days worth of work, now normally I would just make this work but since I'm doing all 4 of these patterns on one piece of fabric this mistake will misalign the dragonfly beside ladybug and then the bumble bee and butterfly below them won't line up either so I have to tear it out. Good thing I have more than one skein of blooming crocus thread and that the other pattern I need the skein for is small so I'm pretty confidence I won't run out (knock on wood), even if I do it's a fairly inexpensive thread so I don't mind having to buy another skein. So hopefully on Sunday I can replace all of the stitching I had to tear out and actually get this picture done.

I'm still hopefully this cold will stay at bay so I can have a semi productive and enjoyable weekend.

Thanks for listening

Very productive weekend

Well I had a very productive weekend more productive then most weekend but then on Sunday I crashed and burned and spent Sunday & Monday fixing my mistake.

So I worked diligently on CCN garden party – dragonfly on Friday since I couldn’t work on it on Thurs and now I’m about 15 stitches away from finishing the border which I hope to finish next Sunday (I only work on it on Sundays now) and then the mini border inside the big border should take me no time at all.

Then I worked on CdC I wanted to finish page 5 so I popped in my Anne of Green Gables videos and in 2 hours page 5 was finished and now I’m working on page 2. There are two rather large motifs that carry over to both pages that I’m now working on now, after the two motifs there isn’t much left on page 2 so I think I can see myself finishing page 2 by the middle of next week

Then I took a break from stitching late Saturday and went through my other weekend tasks and finished a couple. So banking, paying bills, pet food shopping, changing bedding, laundry, shredding large mound of paper, doing dishes, collecting recycling around house, organizing various messy piles around house that I have left for the weekend, computer tasks, etc. were completed and it felt good.

Then I decided to work on Woodland Enchantress, it is a Dimension kit that I got from my parents for my birthday a few years back. I find it hard to work on this picture because the threads are so cumbersome they are really long strands and some are used in blends, ½ stitches or full throughout the pattern so it’s hard to get into a groove. I thought this picture would be the ideal one to put a grid on so a few weeks ago I did just that and it only took about 2 hours……….so on Sunday I started stitching on this project and it didn’t take long before everything went horribly wrong.. I decided to work on an empty section of the pattern meaning a place where there were no connecting stitching I wanted to have a fresh start on this picture.….BIG mistake. I was really nervous about stitching in open space because I couldn’t really tell if things were lined up properly even with a grid. I wasn’t comfortable doing this so after about an hour I decided I couldn’t take it anymore and switched back to the side I had worked on before, I had only put in one maybe two lines of stitching when I realized that my grid didn’t match the pattern lines from the paper pattern, there should have been 2 rows then the block of 10 stitches which make up our usual grid lines (if you know what I mean), I had forgotten to put in the 2 rows. So the hour worth of work I just completed was for nothing along with the time I spent gridding which now had to be removed. So instead of stitching I spent the rest of Sunday ripping out the threads ……big lesson learned that’s for sure. I really have got to stop rushing into my projects simply because I’m excited to work on them because that’s when errors occur.

I now have everything organized again and even spent some time yesterday reorganizing the threads so they are now more workable. I’m hoping to work on Enchantress as my train picture for the next month or two or even till the end of the year.

Thanks for listening.

My Oh My

I haven’t updated myself in quite awhile. Since my last post I have finished 2 pictures and have gotten quite a bit done on Woodland Goddess by Joan Elliot

My first finish is Shepherd’s Bush Home on 10 ct Tula linen and like I said before this is some strange fabric……LOL the holes are huge and my needle wasn’t very cooperative.

Next up is Garden Party – Ladybug by CCN I am using crescent threads and it is so cute!!!! I am actually doing all 4 designs on one big piece of fabric I saw it on a stitching store’s website and it looked fabulous, I am currently working on dragonfly, then bumble bee then butterfly.

And finally here is my latest picture of Woodland Goddess by Joan Elliot, I was getting sick and tired of all the yellow and brown type colors so I decided to switch it up by moving up higher on the pattern so I could work on some other colors, this did wonders for my mojo.

Unfortunately I’m not moving very fast on this pattern and I can’t figure out why. I really enjoy this design and I love to look at the finished design but for some reasons when I sit down to stitch nothing really gets done!! Oh well at least I have till the end of the year to finish it (my own self imposed deadline). In the meantime I have moved back onto CdC which has been calling my name.

I will post a picture at the end of the week if I have something to share.

Pookie and I'm chatty

Well today is my pookie bears 15 birthday and I can’t let this day go by without sharing a couple of my favourite pictures of her. As you can tell she likes being in blankets LOL

I feel quite chatty today and I’ve come across a news article that has kind of pissed me off. Let me explain, everyone in the world probably knows that Vancouver/Whistler will be hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics in February 2010. Well on October 30 the torch will start its Canadian journey, it will go through every since province and territory before winding up in Vancouver on February 12, 2010; One of the sponsors RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) did a bit of a contest for schools in the country to be apart of the relay, the contest was about having the best green plan for the future but I’m not exactly sure.

Anyway, the winners of this contest were released today and that is why I’m pissed off. Now I understand that probably not every school in the country participated but since the torch will be going through every P&T the least the sponsors could do is make sure a school from each P&T is represented. In my opinion they should have taken all of the entries and divided them up by P&T and then picked a winner from each. There are 16 spots there is room for all P&T to get involved and then with the remaining 3 spots one extra should have come from Ontario more specifically Ottawa since they are the capital city of the country and then the remaining 2 should have come from Vancouver/Whistler/Victoria area since we are hosting the Olympics. But no the sponsors (who by the way have head offices in Ontario) have done the following

2 from BC
1 from Newfoundland
1 from New Brunswick
2 from Quebec
1 from Saskatchewan
2 from Alberta
7 from Ontario

None from Manitoba, Prince Edwards Island, Nova Scotia, Yukon, Northwest Territory or Nunavut.

Maybe my feels are this way because I live in the west of the country and I’m basically forgotten and/or over shadowed by Ontario but I think this set up is disrespectful to BC, and the P&T that were forgotten and I’m appalled that Ontario gets 7 spots MORE THAN THE HOST CITY. I am sick and tired of the world and our own government thinking the sun shines out of Toronto or Ontario’s asses and that what happens in Toronto is the gospel and the barometer of the country. There are 10 provinces and 3 territories that make up this country and we deserve just as much respect as Ontario does. This is suppose to be Vancouver/Whistler’s Olympics so it should be all about Vancouver/Whistler with just a smidge about Canada as a country….….okay I’m off my soap box now thanks for listening.

PS I don’t remember hearing about any of this bureaucratic bull shit when Calgary hosted the Olympics maybe I was too young to realize it was happening.

Not Much to Say

I am now a firm believer that pop is just as addictive as cigarettes…..I have fallen off the wagon!!!!!!! LOL I find pop is my security blanket which of course sound bizarre but when I was upset last week the first thing I grabbed was a pop it could have been worse I could have grabbed an alcoholic beverage and got myself piss-ass drunk and I truly am glad that I didn’t because life has a lot of ups and downs and if you grab alcohol every time you hit a rough patch you will get yourself into a load of trouble.

Well enough with the heavy thinking……as I said I have started drinking pop again I will give myself till the end of the month to drink my fill and then I will stop drinking it again and see if I can do it this time.

In other news I’ve kind of put cross stitch on the back burner, although I’m still working on my projects just slowly, and have instead tried to tidy my stuff up, I currently have about 4 different places to put all my stuff which is working okay with me but some times it’s so messy that it takes 20 mins to find the pattern I was looking for of the kreinik I need so I’m in the process of streamlining my stash to make things easier to find. I am also tidying up the UK magazine patterns that I have, I am putting everything into little plastic sleeves so the patterns don’t get dog eared, torn etc. I can fit about 8 or 9 patterns per pocket this way so I have really slimmed down on the folder thickness which is great.

Anyway, I’m not very talkative today the weather is very dark, dreary and rainy and my upper shoulder blade is killing me so I think I will end this now.

Thanks for listening.

Onward & Upward

Well I am so over the situation from last week. I really do think it had a lot to do with my co-worker having a bad week which of course doesn't explain away her behavior but it explains it to me. So onward & upward.

I did a lot of household chores this long weekend as well as quite a bit of stitch so without further ado here are some updated pics.

First up is CdC I'm currently working on page 5 and am about 3/4 finished even though the picture doesn't show this, I think I took this picture earlier in the week....oh well.

Next is Woodland Goddess. I was really getting sick of all the yellow/browns but I persevered and did a couple other colors in between to help and I think that helped.

Oh and before I forget here is the updated photo of Madonna of the Garden before I put her away.

Lastly is Shepherd's Bush picture called Home, it is quite an interesting pattern done on 10 count Tula and will eventually be turned into a pillow, I'm using 3 strands of floss but it still looked sparse but I think once it becomes a pillow I won't notice it....lets hope.

Thanks for looking.

Stupid People

I’ve come to a realization after yesterday, the worst day of my working life, the following rules:

  • Your co-worker is your co-worker not your friend.
  • It is not okay to talk to said co-worker about your family and their dynamics unless it’s actually her family; if it is yours it is considered wasting time and isn’t important no matter what the issues are.
  • it is not okay to speak in a loud voice while on the phone although you are unaware you are doing it but it’s okay for her to have a shouting match with her daughter and then hang up on her for the whole office to hear
  • It is expected that you listen to all her extracurricular activities explained in detail but your life is not important nor your activities so don’t bother talking about it.
  • Multitasking is only something she knows how to do you on the other hand can not talk and email at the same time therefore if you are on the phone on your break/lunch you aren’t doing any work therefore wasting time again.
  • it is okay to log into your home computer’s email and deal with personal emails, log onto MSN messenger and chat or email from your work email non work related stuff, only if you are co-worker but it’s not okay to be on the phone chatting about family related things that might pop up during the day because that is what should be discussed when you get home…..I see her point here but it’s not every situation is exactly cut and dry and can wait till I get home.

As you can see it was an enlightening day yesterday and I now realize not all rules apply to co-worker…because she’s fuck’n special don’t you know. I also realize I discuss my family too much with co-worker and the line between friend and co-worker has been blurred and not in a good way. It was a very bitter pill to swallow but I’m slowly getting over it and tomorrow is another day and I will keep my information to myself and just work and if she is drowning under piles and piles of paperwork and assignments not finished oh well! It will just show her she was calling the kettle black.

I think co-worker is jealous of the pretty good relationship I have with my family (which is not perfect of course but I’m happy with it); she on the other hand only gets 1 or 2 calls/emails from her family a month. I also think she is jealous because I have such a big family that there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t talk to someone from my family sometimes it is bothersome but I wouldn’t trade my family for anything.

And finally I have to realize that co-worker and I have a 20 year ago gap between us so we honestly don’t relate to each other at all.

Rant over….moving on…..thanks for listening

Complaining

Well as Tuesdays are my favorite day of the week (NOT!!!!) I am so not surprised that I feel like crap but this time I know why.

I am trying this new instant coffee, I am a specialty coffee drink I do not drink regular coffee and actually prefer tea. Anywho I purchased Maxwell House Maxiccino Mocha Escape powder to give it a try OMG it's disgusting, the foam on top really smells funny so I scooped it out and tried drinking the coffee, no such luck!!! it has a funny taste to it and in the end I had to dump it out when it started to turn my stomach. So now sitting back at my desk all I can smell is that stupid coffee I even left my mug in the kitchen hoping the smell wouldn't follow me to my desk.....so gross.

So FYI Mocha Escape is gross

Hopefully my stomach ache won't last too long.

Scroll Bars

I just don't get them! I have a 6x12" set and it's one of the ones with a split down the centre so you can slide your fabric inside instead of tacking it on which I thought would be the easiest style but I'm not sure.

I am always worried of getting slivers in the fabric because of the sliding and then when I add the end pieces and roll the bars up I can never get the proper tension and the bars are so bulky with all the fabric rolled up onto them and it most definitely never works out the way I see other ladies scroll bars.......Am I missing something??? maybe the type I have are crap maybe I'm doing something wrong. Can anybody enlighten me on what to do with scroll bars.

I wanted to put Egyptian Garden from Chatelaine on it so I could work on larger sections at a time but obviously that didn't work out, but the silver lining of the situation is I tried my 11x17 qsnaps instead, I had originally purchased them for my HAED but found then too big & bulky when working on then from the 11" side up and 17" to side (if that makes sense) but now with the Chatelaine if I lay the snaps like a scroll bar with the 17" section at the top it gives be a greater area to work on and the section I'm currently doing fit right into that area so I think it will work out and I also think I can use this technique for HAED

Well I've been plugging away on all my pictures this past weekend and will definitely need to take an up to date photo soon.

I'm annoyed

I am really annoyed!!!! Remember the post with my current WIP Madonnna of the Garden by Mirabilia well I completed the archway to the other side and as I was doing the pillar section I thought I should double check that everything lines up......well guess what it DOESN'T.....crap crap and double crap.

I was one line out, now normally I would just make it work but since it's the border around the whole design I wasn't sure how many times this problem would create havoc with the pattern so I decided that I had to find the error and deal with it. I counted and counted and couldn't find the error and I was getting so pissed off that I decided to get my mom to find the error and after 30 mins she found it I actually made the error at the start of the pillar on the left side....so basically from the get go it was wrong. So now I am slowly ripping it out and working on the baby and blanket instead. I guess my lesson is never do the border in open space unless I have gridded the design first or I have done quite a bit of stitching leading up to the border so I have more then one place to line things up to.

In other news I finished page 4 of CdC and will post a picture in a day or too.

And in personal news I have cut pop out of my diet and I'm not having a great time of it which probably explains why I got so pissed off about the error in my picture. It has been about 2 1/2 days and today is the first day I haven't had a caffeine headache. I think it's time to lose some weight and I figure pop is definitely something I'm going to have to get rid of before any results can occur . Wish me luck....

Finally a Happy Dance

Well it's been a while since my last post but I'm happy to say it was with good reason, I have 2 HD!!!! Peacock Lady was a struggle at the end but it’s done. I am soooo reminded on how much I dislike back stitching because of this picture LOL I don’t know why it takes so long to do it compared to regular stitching.

Fairy Celebration #1 is finished as well and it was a breeze to finish I just had to give it some of my time.

I have now finished my quota for the year which is 10 pictures completed so anything that is finished from here on out is a bonus and since I still have 4 more pictures I’m hoping to finish this year I’m quite impressed with myself. So right now I am just winging it with my train pictures since nothing is set in stone anymore. So in between working on the rest of the fairy celebration patterns I’ve been working on some of my older WIP and giving them some face time with the goal to eventually not have anymore WIP. I worked a little bit on Egyptian Garden until my eyes started hurting after doing so much one over one on 32 count {the pond & fish} and while doing that I realized that when I move to the second and third levels on this picture I’ve going to run into problems with it on the train since some times I don’t get much elbow room and it could become quite cumbersome, so I think I’m going to keep this picture at home from now on and I might even try it out on my scroll bars which I haven't really used for anything yet, I’m not a big fan of scroll bars but I think that might be because I haven’t truly figured them out yet. LOL.

Then I moved onto Quaker Christmas which I’m doing over one on 25 count. I really enjoyed it I really like the different size motifs so I can jump all over the place if I wanted too I was doing alright until I did the angel in yellow I’m not sure if I like the color and my mom’s not a fan either so I’ve put it aside so I can look at it with fresh eyes and decided what to do about it later. What I might do is just continue and finish the page and then make a decision. I find with natural light it looks fine but with inside house lights it’s awful and completely blends into the fabric, if I have to change it I’m going to have to think long and hard in what yellow I want to switch it to since the other colors are variegated so I will want to stay consistent.

Right now I'm working on Madonna of the Garden, it’s been awhile since I worked on her. I am currently working on the border that surrounds the pattern and the pillar border ‘thingy’ behind Madonna I have decided to do it this way so if I chose to jump around on the pattern the border will let me do this, it will also give me a better perspective of the picture so it doesn't look so daunting.

Here is the latest progress picture.

Thanks for stopping by off to work on CdC

Oh Please!!!!!

So I tell myself I'm going to post every two days to keep updated on my WIP HAHAHA, that lasted ONE ENTRY.

My only defence is I was sick, pookie was sick and house work took over my life. As it stands I am 3/4 finished back stitching on Peacock Lady and I just have half a head and part of the upper wing to finish on Fairy Celebration #1. I potentially could be finished by the weekend but I'm not going to say that because things happen.

I have also reevaluated Fairy Celebration (all 4 of them actually) I was originally going to do the fairies and their borders but I had an epiphany while working on it this weekend...... I envisioned #1 which has purple and pink thread called Warm Fuzzy by Carrie Creations smelling like lavender so I have decided I must make them into potpourri pillow with smells to match the threads, now I don't want humongous pillow so I'm now only going to do the fairies which will still make the pillow various sizes because #3 is a tall fairy and #4 is a wide fairy. Now all I will need to do is sew them up and add potpourri when they are finished I am so looking forward to this idea coming alive.

Now I have a question for my blogger friends, when making potpourri pillows is there a lining inside the pillows?

Since some potpourri could stain the aida with color or have natural oils that might leak through (#3 fairy will be orange so I'll want orange potpourri) and since I'm using Carrie threads which bleed it's not like I'm going to be able to wash the pillows when this happens or when I refresh the potpourri. What do you do?

Thanks for your assistance, until next time when I might actually remember to take pictures LOL.

Another Update

Well it's time for another update on my current WIP

I work on Fairy Celebration #1 on the train and I think I made very good progress these past two days much more than I got done last week. If I keep this speed up I hope I can finish it by this weekend and if I keep the same speed for the other celebrations I hope I can complete each after 2 weeks intervals on each.

As for Peacock Lady, it doesn't look like I've gotten much done but I actually have, there are about 6 colors per feather and I've now done 4 of them so obviously there are only the remaining two colors and a couple spots where I've missed stitches to go and then the back stitching which will just be the skirt, peacock, table, leg, shoe and the peacock feathers with sprigs flying out of feathers. I'm hoping I can complete the back stitch by Friday and then complete the beading on Saturday. So finger crossed 2 more pictures soon to be finished which will bring the total number of projects finished this year to 10 which is actually my goal and that doesn't count the other 3 fairy celebrations or Cirque des Circles which I intend to finish this year as well.

Quick Post

I have now taking updated pictures of Fairy Celebration #1 by Passione Ricamo. I am using Warm Fuzzy threads by Carrie Creation. It is actually a quite fun piece and I love the thread it is actually working out better then what I thought it would be.

and here is Peacock Lady. I have done all the metallic and back stitching on the top half of the picture which is covered by the hoop and I only have the peacock feathers, bottom half back stitching and beading to do now. The peacock feathers are a little picky which is why it's taking me so long but I think I'm getting the hang of it now.

Thanks for looking

Part 2

Well I remembered that I told myself I would be posting pictures of my WIP every day or second day come August 1st well since that is tomorrow I thought I'd better update the blog with what I've come up with.

So I plugged in my camera and uploaded all the pictures I have on it now and I'm now going to start with a clean slate tomorrow. But with this heat wave I'm not sure how much progress I'm going to get done, so I will surprise you tomorrow with what I got done LOL which will probably be nothing. I have also decided I will post pictures every second day so there is more of a chance that some progress is noticeable in the pictures LOL.

Because I have no WIP to show you yet I wll leave you with a Pookie picture, I wrap her every night with a wet wash cloth so she can stay cool.

Can it get any hotter here!!!

Oh my goodness I am literally melting away. In BC we are dropping heat records like no bodies business, yesterday the temperature in Vancouver was 34/94 and it broke a 60 year old record. Where I live it's about 2 -3 degrees hotter because we don't have the breeze coming off the water like Vancouver does, although I can't even feel that at this point, it is really uncomfortable and my poor little Pookie she is having a really hard time too.

I haven't picked up a needle to stitch all week, it is just too painful to even think about stitching, even on the air conditioned train I don't want to stitch I just want to sleep and/or relax because I'm not getting any sleep at home. So at this point I have no idea when I'm going to finish Peacock Lady and I don't care, until I can turn on my light to actually see what I'm doing I'm just going to play it by ear.

Thanks for listening.

Blogging for a year

As of July 21st I have been blogging for a year and I must say I am definitely in a better frame of mind then I was last year. Thank God, which was basically why I started the blog which was to bitch to complete strangers because I didn't have the gut to bitch to my family (I also didn't think they would listen) and of course to show and talk about my xstitch.

Not all my problems have gone away but I'm happy to say I can look at them with a different frame of mind. I have also grown to the point where I can look at these said problems and know that they aren't my fault or my responsibility to fix them and for that I can thank my best friend Janelle for giving me the biggest pep talk in our 20 year friendship, every time I get down in the dumps I'm reminded about certain things she said and it lightens my spirit. I have also learned not to be a door mat which unfortunately my family (specifically one person) has been doing to me for years.

OK enough of my moping. I made great progress on Peacock Lady during my vacation and just have the skirt and 1/2 the back stitching to finish this week and hopefully by next Saturday I will be doing the beading and since Monday is a holiday (BC day) I can spend all day dealing with last minute details if I didn't finish the beading by then. Unfortunately we are having a major heat snap right now so my fingers are so sweaty they are actually sticking together so it makes stitching interesting and slow, so I might have to stitch in the bathroom LOL because that is the only cool room in the house.

We had a great mother nature light show last night; we had dry lightening with pink and yellow hues to them, it was pretty impressive. I stood out in the rain just to cool off and loved every minute of it, well I'm done babbling for now. I hope next time I can show you the finished picture of Peacock Lady.

Everything is right in the world

So I got my new WDW trick or treat threads last night......and they MATCH my original set, yes, yes, yes. I mixed the old with the new and ask my mom if she could tell the difference just to be safe and she couldn't so now once Peacock Lady is finished I will start back on CdC.

I will be on vacation next week and I'm going to be lazy and just visit with friends and cross stitch LOL. So I expect to finish Peacock Lady during my holidays, I have also been working on one of the Fairy Celebration freebies from Passione Ricamo so I'm hoping to finish that as well while on holidays and maybe I'll remember to take some pictures and post them.

Food for Thought

I am really impressed with the ladies that can take a progress picture of their project everyday or week. I'm surprised if I can do it once a month, so I have decided starting August 1 I am going to take a progress picture and post a picture every day or every second day I haven't decide yet. I'm hoping I will be finished Peacock Lady buy then so it will be Quaker Christmas, Egyptian Garden or one of the PR Fairy Celebration patterns on the train and CdC at home only of course if my threads arrive soon.

I have restarted gridding a large piece of 25 count in prep to start another HAED, I had the threads going over 6 squares under 4 squares and had completed all the horizontal threading but I didn't realize I had miss counted until I tried to line up and start the vertical threads........let me tell you I was not a happy camper but then I came to realize the threads would not intersect each other if I used the 6/4 rule which I didn't like......for some reason it doesn't look right to me if they don't intersect but then I was reading Sally's blog at StitchyAngels Treasure and was taking a closer look at her gridding and have decided I'm going to copy her style (if she doesn't mind). It will take me awhile to actually grid it up but I will post a picture to show how it turns out.

Thanks for listening.

This heat

I am so behind in my stitching, it has been so hot that I can't think about doing anything. I basically can only stitch at night and I don't want to turn on any light so I can barely see what I'm stitching and the little lamps I have are completely useless so I'm looking to invest in a proper stitch light which I can hopefully use when its this hot.

Other than that I really have nothing to say. Pookie is sick again but who isn't in this heat, unfortunately it's hard to keep her cool so it's been an endless cycle of sickness.

Oops!!!!

It was going so well working on CdC ........For some reason the speed in which I was whipping through the skeins of floss got me a little concerned, I am using Trick or Treat threads from Weeks Dye Works. So I pulled out the CdC pattern and reread what the instructions said, it says the model was stitched on 14 count using 9 skeins that are 8.7 yards each....oops my mistake just screamed at me.

I am doing this pattern on 22 count and I purchased 9 skeins of WdW thread and they are only 5 yards, so even though the count is smaller there is no way I have enough thread, I currently have 3 skeins left and 3 complete pages still to work on. I was so pissed off. Now the problem is when I order new skeins will they be the same dye lot??? on first glance I'm not that worried because the thread is of 4 different colors so I can mix and match the threads so that the same color (say orange) from the old never touches the new, I would start stitching with one of the other colors. I also have a couple other techniques to try if this one doesn't work out and some ladies on a cross stitch board offered other suggestions so please cross your fingers that one of these scenarios works out.

I have stopped stitching the pattern until the new threads arrive so I can compare the threads before continuing on. So now I am working solely on Peacock Lady I just want to finish a picture now because of this screw up and she is the closest to that.

Thanks for listening.

June Progress

Well I’ve been pretty quiet of late with my stitching so you are probably wondering (or not) what I have been doing………

Woodland Goddess by Joan Elliott

I was working on this on the train but unfortunately the pattern is in color & symbols or just color and since I have a black and white working copy I was carrying around the book as well which was making stitching quite cumbersome checking the color every time I wanted to stitch to make sure it was the correct color so I didn’t get as much done of this as I wanted and I have yet again relegated a pattern so be a home picture instead of a train one. I really would like to stitch a medium size picture on the train but I have yet to find one what will work.

Egyptian Garden by Chatelaine
As it was my birthday week I decided to work on this pattern. I’m not really familiar with stitching 2 over 2 so I was definitely taking my time. I used to wonder why it took some ladies so long to make a dent in some of their WIP and now I know why. I would call myself I fairly fast stitcher and can plug away on a picture quite quickly, but my goodness the speed on which I stitch on 32 count is quite painful and I can’t believe on how little I got done. I have posted a before and after picture so you can see what I mean. This is after a week and a half of stitching, as well I decided to stitch the pond 1 over 1 so I had to frog some stitching out, but still I figured I would be farther along then I am, but it definitely puts this pattern into prospective and why a time line of 6 month to 1 year is the usual time needed to finish these pictures.

I have now switched back to Cirque of Cercles for home and Peacock Lady for train. I will try and post a WIP picture of these two some time next week. I think I might go outside and stitch this weekend, I’m not a really big fan of that because I’m worried about getting the fabric dirty with flying dirty and grass stains etc but what the heck…..live dangerously Nicole.

Today - June 22nd

Well today is my birthday and I could care a less about it. For some reason I am in a bit of a blue mood and have been for about 3 days . I am wondering if the older I get the more my birthdays will hurt!! I hope not because right now I just want to smack myself up the side of my head for my blue mood and for taking everything so personal, or perhaps I'm in a dire need of a real vacation not just a day or two off and that's why I feel this way. I can't really complain to my family and friends about my blue mood because I can't really explain it to myself, so I'll just plug along and hope I shake it. Maybe I need to do some stash purchasing LOL there really isn't anything out right now that I have to have but I do have some money to spend, maybe a new pair of scissors or some needles will work.

Thanks for listening maybe tomorrow I'll post some updated WIP.

Pookie & CdC

I don't know why I just don't rename my blog something like 'the life of Pookie' since I talk about her so much LOL. Well, we have cancelled Pookie's teeth cleaning indefinitely. Last Friday we took her in to get checked out because of her being sick, the vet said her heart was fine and that she just wasn't handling the heat well "really no kidding, we couldn't figure that out ourselves". So we got her some bland food, some medicine to stop her loose stool, and we fiddled with her antibiotics and we also decide that Monday was too soon for the cleaning so we switched it to yesterday.

Well Sunday was a disaster!!!!!! #1 we woke up late so we were late with not one but two of her heart meds. #2 she didn't like the medicine for her loose stool, it's basically a vanilla scented cream that you put on her tongue, well I put it on her lips and nose because she wouldn't open her month and she refused to lick it off so then I had to take a wash cloth to her face and clean it off, well she was so pissed off at me she started to leave the room every time she saw me, she again refused to eat or drink which was because she was upset. She didn't throw up, she just worked herself into a tizzy, and then out of the blue she FAINTED which she hasn't done since January when we found out about her heart condition and got her on medication.

So on Monday I called the vet and as soon as she heard about the fainting from her receptionist she called me right back at work, so we cancelled Wednesday's teeth cleaning and the vet doesn't want to discuss the cleaning for at least 2 weeks and she wants Pookie to be healthy for at least 1 whole week before any date is chosen. She figured Pookie's blood sugar was low and her anxiety level was high which is why she fainted. At the end of the conversation the vet said maybe doing Pookie's teeth isn't such a good idea after all, she said we can either have an alive Pookie with potential bad teeth or we can have a possible dead Pookie with white, clean teeth, at the end of the day is it worth it.....HELL NO. As my co-worker pointed out Pookie's health is unstable so there is no guarantee we can even have a full week of her being in tip top condition. I'm not saying Pookie is throwing up everyday but some days she is sad and doesn't eat, some days she throws up, some days she hides under the bed and wants to be left alone and some days she is like a puppy all excited and jumping around like a mad woman, so any one of these scenarios might affect her health under anesthetic. So I think we have basically decided that Pookie is going to live out the remainder of her life as is.

Now don't get me wrong if there is a problem with her teeth I'm going to do all I can to help her. I have heard that there is a holistic remedy for dealing with tartar on your dogs teeth, which is 100% natural, so I will go to the local pet store and the holistic pet store that opened up last year and see if either one of them have the produce and ask for information on it and then I'm going to talk to the vet to make sure none of the ingredients will react to Pookie's medication and give it a try. I don't expect it to be a cure for tartar but I figure every little bit helps and we will just go on from there enjoying Pookie for as long as we have her.

I have been working on CdC this week and I'm two tiny swirls away from finishing page 6 YAH!!! 2 pages down 4 to go. I am really enjoying this picture now that I have figured out a technique to use on this type of pattern, which is do the outer circle first then whatever is inside, before I was working on the circles as a whole and jumping from one corner section to the other and with a variegated thread it winds up being very mess. I'm also not even going to venture a guess on when I'll be finished this picture because it's so unique and enjoyable that I'm just soaking it in and can't believe I took so long to find the fun in this picture, if you know what I mean. But I have decided to push off HAED - Found for a later time so instead of working on it once CdC is finished I'm going to work on Egyptian Garden by Chatelaine instead, for some reason I keep on coming across people's blogs with the WIP of various Chatelaine which is making me jealous about not work on mine, so I've picked a section of the picture I want to finish and I'll work up to that point and then switch to HAED - Found.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Catching up with Everyone

Well a few things have happened since my last post.

I went to Il Divo with my mom and I think the concert was great and I really enjoyed myself. Not only do these guys sing great and keep your attention a couple of them are really quite funny too. I would go again.

Pookie was suppose to have her teeth cleaned yesterday but since we have been having a heat wave Pookie has been ill, she has been throwing up and not eating because of it. The vet was extremely worried about her being in a weakened condition and putting her under anesthetic. The vet also thinks since she was weak and her stomach was upset the antibiotics made the situation worse, so we have altered how much antibiotics she gets and have rescheduled her appointment for Wednesday. At the time I didn't understand what the problem was since by Thursday night she was fine but in hindsight I noticed Pookie wasn't too steady on her feet which probably was her being dizzy from lack of food and water and that is not a good state to be in when being sedated. Still crossing my fingers that she will be okay.

And since I already had the day off on Friday I got to work on MLOTS all day and was able to finish her beading about 4 days earlier then I anticipated, I must say MLOTS beads were quite easy to do since they were all clustered together and the majority of them were petite.

So here is My Lady of the Snow by Passione Ricamo

MLOTS and Il Divo

Well I have been stitching up a storm this week. I have about 25 rows left to stitch on the cape and then all the regular stitching of MLOTS will be completed and then on to the beading. I so want to finish this that I've been taking it on the train for the past three days to try and speed it along, but for some reason just because I want to finish it this week the work has been very slow. Once I finish I want to do a full day of work on my train picture at home to catch up on it since I've pushed her aside for MLOTS and perhaps I can actually post my WIP picture her since I just realized I haven't posted any pictures of her yet.

I probably won't get any stitch done on Saturday since I'm taking my mom to the Il Divo concert as a mother's day gift. In case you don't know who they are they are a Italian opera/tenor quartet and my mom loves them, I'm not sure whether I actually like their music or not I guess I will find out as I sit and listen to them for 2 hours LOL

edited to add: I just found out something about Il Divo, thanks to Elle for her comment, apparently the gentlemen aren't Italian they are American, Swiss, French and Spanish, hmmmm you learn something new everyday, I had no idea.

Xstitch Pics

I'll make this short and sweet here are my xstitch photos.......I wonder why it takes me so long to download my pictures onto my computer????
Here is Santa Paw Biscornu, all that is left is the building.
This is Peacock Lady a 1920's flapper style lady from one of the UK magazines I collect. I really screwed up on this one so right now I've put it away until I'm in a better frame of mind.

Here is Found - HAED, the chunk on the top left side is what I was working on. I got into a bit of trouble while trying to do the confetti stitches on the train with out a table and found it was too cumbersome so I've decided that I can't do this picture on the train, so after MLOTS and CdC I will work on this picture as a home one. I did try parking but I was making more of a mess then anything else and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't convince myself to stretch over about 14 squares to continue with the same color, it just isn't in my makeup LOL.

Here are two different angels of MLOTS and the last section I need to work on. It looks great, don't you think!!!! Now I'm basically doing 2 regular blues and then B5200and PB10 blend for the rest of the cape.
Well that's it for now. Talk to you later.

Update

I just realized I've only posted once this month and we are almost half way through the month so I figured I should let everyone know what's been going on.

I haven't really been stitching much on Found - HAED I've been sleeping or reading on the train. I won't force the issue and I'm okay with that, it is a long weekend this weekend (Victoria Day) so I will pull out Found and work on it at home and hopefully finish the section I'm working on.

On MLOTS I am in the final stretch I just have the white back portion of the cape and then it's just the beading, I image I could be finished the cape by Tuesday, since my 2 favorite shows are on today and tomorrow so I will be glued to the TV and can get a lot done but I won't rush myself I will just let it happen.

I hand delivered my best friend's first Mother's Day gift from her son on Sunday LOL. I told her I was doing my god mother duty by purchasing a gift on behalf of her son, she thought it was pretty funny that I did this, now I just have to think of a father's day gift for her husband. I really am enjoying being a godmother.

Pookie has to go get her teeth cleaned by the vet, this would be no big deal but since she has a heart condition and has to be put under anesthetic there is a chance she will die. I have been pretty quiet about this because I don't want to think about her dying and I've definitely have had a few sleepless nights thinking about it, if there was anyway around it I won't have her teeth cleaned but as the vet said 'would you rather her die of old age or because of bad teeth?' and she's right I want Pookie's last years to be as enjoyable as possible not with her in pain and since she can't tell us if her teeth hurt how do we know if she's in pain already. Small dogs apparently have really bad teeth and Pookie doesn't eat milk bones so we know her teeth aren't as clean as they should be. The vet is really excited about the heart meds Pookie is currently on, she says her heart beat is really solid and that is a great sign. Pookie's appointment is on June 5th and I've taken the day off work because there is no way I can concentrate at work until she is safe and sound at home.

So from this point forward I will not be talking about the appointment at all since I'm quite worried about it and really don't want to think about it but obviously on June 5 or 6 I will post what happened

Thanks again for listening.

Parking

I have decided to venture into parking thread on a HAED. I am getting to the confetti part of my current HAED and am trying every way I can to stay focused on the task since confetti stitching is such a pain in the ass. So what I plan on doing is start parking at row 2 horizontal (since I've already finished row 1) of the page I'm working on and stay within the 10x10 block and work down the page basically keeping every column a separate task from each other, this way I won't have to jump too many empty squares and the loose thread definitely won't get in my way, which has been one of my biggest concerns about parking is getting a massive ball of knots at the end of a page. Where ever possible I also plan on tucking the thread under already done stitches and if I have to jump over empty space when I stitch over that section later I will make sure the jumped thread gets stitched over .....if that made any sense LOL

Currently finishing up empty spots on MLOTS before working on the right side cape which is almost completely B5200 and PB10 blending which seems to get picky after awhile, so I am taking my time and enjoying the final moments of this picture.

By for now.

MLOTS update

I continue to make great head wave on MLOTS, I finished the left hand, owl and long blue ribbon this weekend, which was great. I was actually hoping to finish all these parts during the week but it just didn't happen I don't think I even pick up the pattern. Any ho, I have some stitching left on her bodice and then I can move over to the right and finish the final bit of cape unfortunately it is b5200 and metallic pearl all the way through it so it's slow going but I think it will look great, there are a couple spots I need to complete as well near here hips but they shouldn't take to long, I would say that maybe by late next week I should be into the beading part of this pattern.

I hope to post an up to date picture later this week

Smoking Needle

I have been stitching like a maniac on MLOTS and have been able to finish 2 sections this week WOOT WOOT, and for that reason I haven't been blogging or really read many blogs. I am on a mission to complete this pattern by mid May instead of the end which was my original plan.

And then instead of starting a new pattern I have decided that I really want to complete some more of my WIP before starting any new pattern so I will be starting back onto CdC once MLOTS is completed.

On that note I better get back to work.

Catching Up

Just dropping a line to say I'm still around I've just been too exhausted to blog, the change in the weather has made me really sleepy at work and home.

I have been very slowly been plugging away on train and home WIP so I don't really have much to show for my stitching just yet but I'm hoping I can finish a section on MLOTS this weekend and actually remember to post the picture.

Have a good weekend everyone

Finally some Xstitch photos

I was finally able to upload my photos after having such a busy weekend I didn't think it was doable.

This weekend I wasn't really into stitching on MLOTS so I pulled out a quick stitch project called Dog Hair by My Big Toe with JABC buttons which were interesting to add since I've never worked with buttons before, this pattern took me about 10 hours, is explains my stitching quite clearly, no matter how hard I try Pookie's hair always seem to get on my stitching, she doesn't even sit beside me when I stitch but it still gets on it. LOL.

and here is my other finish, Iced Tea with the bleedy thread problem I had with it, I'm hoping my fiddling with it will mellow the effect, I like the effect just not as much as the right side is showing.

and now here are all my WIP I have worked on the last 2 weeks.

This is Santa Paws Biscornu by Szulet Creations I was working on it in January but couldn't get motivated so I put it away till last week, I work on it in the morning on the train.

This is Peacock Lady from one of my UK magazines I think this is a Maria Diaz design of a 1920's woman in a peacock feather skirt. I love the vibrate blues and greens. I will be adding DMC light effects to the border and skirt so hopeful I don't have too much trouble with that. I work on this pattern on the afternoon train.

This is what I accomplished on Egyptian Garden 2 weeks ago when I worked on it, not much was done but I'm happy with it.
here is what I accomplished on Found 2 weeks ago, I know it looks like a mess but it's turning out beautifully I can now see the silhouette of the baby dragons feet. I have decided that I MUST complete this pattern this year.

and here is MLOTS after I completed the light/medium blue section I was working on last week, this picture is really coming together and I will probably be finished the stitching at least but the end of May if I stick to it, but some days I just don't feel like stitching.
