Things are looking good for another finish

Sorry I have been silent yet again in my blog posts but I am really trying hard to finish my latest project before the end of the year. Not sure if I will actually finish before Christmas but maybe before January 1st.

Anyway enough chatting here are some photos

Tribal Butterfly....not sure if I posted the final finish so I will just post it again.

Excuse the wrinkles haven't had a chance to iron it yet.
So the project I want to finish by the end of the year is CCN Santa's Village. I started house #9 this morning and I am hoping to get a good chunk of the house done tonight before bed.
Here are the photos of house 4 - 7 I haven't had a chance to take one of house #8.

Working hard

I definitely wanted to post sooner then this but when you are on a roll stitching you don't stop, you ride the wave.

I am working on Santa's Village by CCN, I am currently working on house #7,  if all goes as planned I  hope to be finished tonight or at the latest Tuesday afternoon it all depends on how busy I get.

I had hoped to be farther along  then I currently am on this project but for some reason the change in the weather in October/November has thrown me for a loop and I am spending more time sleeping on the train then anything reading or stitch is geting done, it's just weird.

Anyway, I will post photos of house #4 - 7 when I take the project out of the hoop to move it over for house #8.

Thanks for listening.

Progress on WIP

Hello I have been radio silent for awhile. Sorry about that. Life is a little busy in my neck of the woods. Work has been crazy busy. Weather has been killing my stitching schedule and I have been quite flip flopping regarding what I want to stitch. As well, we just welcomed a new member of our extended family and have another one arriving in November.
After finishing Found I brought out Egyptian Garden by Chatelaine. I was hoping to work on it exclusively till the end of the year, but it's never a good idea to start another BAP design right after you finish one (or at least it isn't good for me). I worked on it for a couple weeks and got a fair bit done on the left side brown border and then started on part of the palm tree. My intention from here on out is to work on it a level at a time and rotation my q-snaps around to accomplish this, this way when an area is complete it's complete. At the time I also put away Ink Circles Rematch in floral hues color scheme to give me more time for EG. I haven't gone back to it just yet but I hope to soon.
Egyptian Garden
Rematch - floral hues
I have also started working on Tribal Butterfly as my commuter piece, unfortunately I didn't get very far that way. I have a couple of new books on my ereader that I have been reading instead of stitching, but since I have been home this week I have been able to fly through tribal butterfly. It is such an easy quick pattern I just don't know why it took me so long.
Tribal butterfly, not the greatest photo
I also gave Winter Quaker some love but I just wasn't into it so I put it away until I felt like working on it.
Finally I picked up Dog Lessons for People by Lizzie Kate. I wanted to start this design in June but for whatever reason I 'misplaced it' in my project bin. I stumbled across it a month ago and decided to start it right away. I probably could have finished it in 3 days but with the heat and new baby and first round  of vacation nothing really got done. I truly enjoyed the piece and can't believe how fast it come together. I have 2 or 3 more of LK samplers like this that I might pull out and work on if they are as quick as Dog Lessons, it has truly been a joy to stitch this pieces from start to finish I definitely want to put my mind to how I am going to final finish it.
I have now moved on to Santa's Village by CCN. I started it last fall/winter but got bogged down with Christmas and work so I only got as far as house #3 of 12 before I put it away. So I have pulled it out again and I think I will stick to it until completed. It always was a fun stitch and since it is a few months before the Christmas rush which always interrupts by stitching that should give me ample time to get it done.
Well I think I have given status updates on all my projects. Thanks for Listening.

Ta Da...I have a finish

After 5+ years of working on it on and off I have officially finished Found. I actually finished on the 14th but I have been so busy I haven't had a chance to post it.

I am currently trying to finish my first Ink Circle RYO and then I have a whispered in the wind WIP. I told myself I had to finish those projects before I could start a new one. Then my goal is to work on Egyptian Garden another RYO and then another HAED in black till I finish or till the end of the year whichever comes first.

Final push

I have 687 stitches left to complete Found by HAED.

I was pretty excited to be on the verge of finishing it this past weekend. Unfortunately it was really muggy/hot in British Columbia's lower mainland on Sunday that after I finished my grocery shoppjng I was hit with a nasty migraine,  so there was no way I could even look at the pattern.

I am taking a break from the design for a few days so I can do some craft organizing and some long over due tasks. My goal is to get back into Found on Thursday and finish it completely by Saturday.

I have a couple projects to take it's place  that just need a little love and then they can be finished and then I want to launch myself into working on Egyptian Garden by Chatelaine. I worked on this designs a month back when I needed a break on Found and I just flew through the section I worked on and I was reminded how much I really like this design. I know its probably a bad idea to work on back to back large projects but that is why I am doing a couple quick finishes first and I have picked 3 designs to work on when I get bored of Egyptian or I need a break so I don't loose my mojo.

In honor of finishing my first HAED I have purchased two more LOL. One is called Tribal Owl, it is this beautiful white barn owl on a nice light blue background,  there are only 4 blues in the background so I could probably whip through at least 6 pages of this design right away. Then I purchased a QS called Lady bug, it is just the black outline of a flower and lady bug and some other stuff which I can't remember, unlike most HAED the stitching doesn't cover the entire fabric space so I expect this to be a rather quick finish. I am hoping I can fit it into my schedule of projects for this year but its no big deal if I don't.  I am going to put the design on 18 count simply sunshine by silkweave. I bought this fabric (vibrant yellow) because it looked cool but I had no idea what I was going to put on it, as soon as I saw this pattern I knew I had to have it for this fabric.

Well thanks for listening, next time I post I promise there will be a happy dance photo.

Almost there

Well after 2 productive weeks and a very productive long weekend I have made extremely good progress on Found by HAED. I have under 3500 stitches and only 2.5 pages to go.

I am going left to right across one entire row at a time to finish all the bits of confetti stitching left. If all goes well I will be finished by the end of the month.

I can't seemed to upload my latest progress photo so I will have to try again tomorrow.

Thanks for listening.

So last year I noticed a change in my cross stitch purchases and goals. I wasn't as enthusiastic as I had been in previous years and I wasn't really thrilled with the designs etc coming out so it wasn't hard for me not to run amok with my spending on stitch stuff, but it also worried me that I was losing my interest in cross stitch which is a big problem since I have invested a crap load of money into this craft.......but alas I think I was just maturing. I am more selective in my purchases now and I don't buy supplies for the sact of buying I am only buying supplies for patterns I have and I don't just buy fabric because I want to I wait until I have almost run out then I buy more; this of course is regular fabric, hand dyed fabric I buy for no rhymn of reason still LOL.

Now you are probably wondering why I am sharing this information with you all.  I think I realize that it's a good thing I didn't give up on my craft and should acknowledge how important it is in my life. It gives me balance, it relaxes me, it makes me happy and some times it takes me out of the dark place my life some times takes me. Now of course it also keeps me indoors when I should be outside getting fresh air and I do a lot of sitting on my behind instead of moving around which doesn't help me to lose weight but that is more me than the cross stitch.

I have been having a really crappy health year. I used to tease my sister who has allergies and knee problems because every time I turned around she was at the doctors or on various medications, my mother and sister are very much alike in that sense, whereas my dad and I very rarely go to the doctor unless we are really sick. For example during flu/cold season sister goes to the doctor at least three times and is off work at least a week...... I don't go to the doctor and I suck it up and go to work every day because in my mind it is just a bloody cold and no big deal. Well I am very much getting my comeuppance now. As of today I am on my fourth prescription medication for the year. Now none of the ailments are life threatening or anything of that nature they are just frustrating and bothersome and unexpected.

If I didn't have my task of finishing Found this year I probably would have felt sorry for myself and gotten sucked into my dark place, but nothing kills depressing thoughts more then being able to see more of the blue dragon come alive on Found or knowing that a bad day can just disappear as each new stitch goes into a piece of fabric. Some days I just don't know what I would do without my stitch. Stitching also keeps my life in perspective,  the world will not end if I can't put some stitches in one day or that I wanted to finish Found in March but its almost May and I still have 4,000 stitches to go.

Well I think I have stood on my soap box long enough, thanks for listening.....moral of my story do what you love and everything else will fall into place.

Hopefully next post will include photos of my Found progress, my train project RYO rematch color floral hues and Egyptian Garden which I was able to put some stitches into this weekend.

Progress Photos

Okay everyone here are some photos of two of my projects. I have been working on tribal butterfly on my commute to and from work. I am hoping to be finished it by the end of March

and here is what the last run at Woodland Goddess by Joan Elliott resulted in.

I will be going back to Woodland once I finish Found HAED (Lisa Victoria), which is what I am working on today. I can't remember when I last posted a photo of Found so after I finish working on it tonight I will have to take a new photo.

Thanks for listening.

My Progress Pictures

This is my progress on both my WIP as of this afternoon.

I am happy to say taking a break from Found for a week to work on Ink Circle RYO designs has worked wonders I am excited to work on it again and I will be starting back on it tomorrow night (I am taking a break from stitching tonight). I will keep the RYO design as my commuter project though.

Further progress

So I am  taking a little break from Found HAED right now. I was getting a little frustrated with the lack of visual progress, even though I know I have put in over 1000 stitches in March. I am going to take a week and a half break or so and work on Ink Circle RYO square design called Rematch, using the color scheme Floral.

It is a pretty relaxing design which is what I think I need to recharge my battery for Found. I was taking the design on my morning commute but was also trying to finish a book at the same time and more times then not the book won out LOL.

I have done 3/4 page worth of the black border and just last night added some pink into the design ( was getting bored with the black). I haven't decided whether to continue adding some more color into the design or go back and work on more of the border. On one hand if I continue with the black I will have to move my hoop multiple times but once I finish the black I will be able to have a complete understanding on how this design will turn out but if I add more color I will be able to finish an entire page of this 6 page design. I am leaning more towards finishing the black and pink on the page I am working on then moving to the next page and only doing the black and pink there too and so on until all the black is finished. That would be a great progress photos to have black with a splash of color :)

Hopefully I can post a WIP picture of both designs tonight.

Well thanks for listening.

Progress on Found

My latest progress picture on Found

I had hoped to be quite a bit farther on the pattern by now but with my parents anniversary, my mom's birthday all in a two week span I have literally had maybe 3 days in total to even touch it.

I plan on having a total veggie day after work tonight and I hopefully I can put in at least 200 stitches tonight.

My goal is to have it completely finished during the Easter long weekend so cross your fingers LOL.

Thanks for listening.

Health turn around

Well I am finally feeling better, January was most definitely long and painful. Lets just say a tooth infection, 2 rounds of antibiotics, chipmunks cheeks and 3 dentist appointments later and it has finally been resolved.

You can just imagine how much cross stitching I didn't get done because of the pain and discomfort I was having. I wanted to be finished 2 projects by now but alas I have none!!!

I was able to finish the skirt on Woodland Goddess by Joan Elliott, finished right side of Tribal Butterfly (can't remember designer's name). I will try really hard to post photos of these pieces tomorrow or tonight once I am in front of my home computer.

I have decided to concentrate all my energy on finishing Found by Lisa Victoria HAED by the end of March, it was a bit of a slow start on this goal but I have a plan of attack now and hopefully that will help me. What I was doing was trying to find big chunks of similar stitches and work on those and leaving the confetti stitches till later but unfortunately I am basically at the stage where 80% of it is now confetti so I HAVE to start stitching the confetti LOL. I am still having a hard time stretching my thread over wide spaces on the back of the decide to get from one confetti stitch to another. I really like my back to be just as clean as the front but that isn't going to happen with HAED projects, you are either going to stretch your thread over or you are constantly going to start and stop stitches which leave little tuffs everywhere, neither method is very tidy so I am just going to have to accept that my back is going to be slightly messy

Sickly 2014

Well my goal was to post more often in 2014, but as you can see that doesn't seem to be happening LOL. I have been dealing with a few health hiccups this year so my mind and body are truly not into posting. I have been able to put in some stitching on one of my projects but not consistently but hopefully I can pick that up once I feel a bit better.
Because I have been feeling like such a slug when I get home from work these past two weeks I have had a good chat with myself and I have laid down the law. I have to complete 1 proper task every day so I feel like I accomplished something, even if I feel like shit. I always make myself a task list but lately I have just been feeling overwhelmed by all these tasks and I wind up sitting at my computer staring into space and getting nothing done, so until I start feeling better I am only going to give myself one task and be happy when I finish it. Hopefully I will be back to doing multiple tasks in no time.
So I am taking a break from working on Found by HAED for the month of January, I am really close to finishing Woodland Goddess by Joan Elliot, I just have to give myself the time to sit down and give it some love. So I decided to work on Found for the entire month of February so I could work on Goddess all of January. I am making a pretty good dent on it, not sure if I can finish it by the end of the month now with being sick but I will be about 75% at least....I must remember to post an updated photo.
Well thanks for listening, hopefully my next post will be more impressive with pictures even LOL.
