Tis the Season to do NO crossstitch

I have been really struggling to be consistence with my cross stitch. I would say since late November I have gotten little to no stitch done.

It got so bad I switched out to another project to help getting me going, it sort of helped but not much.

Here are some progress photos of my 2 projects

July Birthstone Fairy

I expect from today onward there will be little to no progress, until after Christmas.

I am so close to being finished with the birthstone fairy. I swear I should lock myself in a room and not come out until it is complete. That will be priority #1 in the new year.

As it stands I only got 3 projects done this year and only one of them was sort of big. My 2 biggest problems is 1) when I do pieces for someone else for some reason I go super slow 2) I stopped taking projects with me on the train.

If I ever want to get back to my 10 - 14 project goal per year I think I should alternative reading and stitching on my commute to and from work so I can give some love to more projects LOL.

So as of yesterday I switched up my projects yet again and am giving some love to a little LHN kit called Spiced Tea. I really feel the need to have one more finish this year which I think I can get with this little kit. Wish me luck

Productivity this weekend

Very productive weekend for me  - Dentist, cooking work lunches, laundry, cleaning up my craft table and working on QS Lady Bug which is another of my WIP.

Here are some progress photos

Tiramisu - Glendon Place

QS Lady Bug - HAED

I am stuck in the office all day tomorrow so I think I will bring July Birthstone Fairy to work at lunch. The funny thing about the fairy is it truly is a quick and easy project I just have to be in the mood and not get frustrated at all the color changes and 1/4 stitches.

Thanks for listening.

Seasonal Maintenance

Well I decided since I am trying to get my butt in gear with stitching that it was time to do some maintenance on my blog. I was no longer feeling the baby blue background, since its now Fall so there needs to be some fall colors LOL.

While I was at it I realized that the photos needed to be updated so when I get home tonight I will post some current WIP photos.

I noticed as well that since creating this blog my cross stitch likes and dislikes have changed, which also means the blogs in which I read have changed as well. So I have perused my reading list and removed the blogs that no longer hold my interest, some are because the ladies have stopped posting, some have switched to quilting or knitting and some work on a style of designs that just don't hold my attention anymore. I've got to say it was really hard to do that, I love looking at every one's WIP and finishes and hope I don't offend anyone but I read over 50 blogs at any one time and that takes a lot of time to do while on a tablet or mobile device so if I am not loving the content why am I still reading the blogs?

Thanks for listening.

Summer is finally over

So I don't know about you but this summers heat wave we had for about 3 months killed my stitching mojo. Usually by this point in the year I have completed at least 6 projects and sometimes I have gotten up to 8. But not this year. Not only did summer come early in my neck of the woods but it was extremely hot, so the thought of picking up a needle or touching fabric was not happening.

I have this cute birthstone fairy design that I could probably have banged out in 2 weeks but it has been sitting and lingering for at least 2 months now. I even started to bring it with me on my commute to work on the slim hope I would feel in the mood to stitch, or feel the need to pull it out during my lunch hour while in the air conditioned office, but alas neither of these situations happened.

It is quite embarrassing that with the amount of money I have put into this hobby that most of it has been sitting in various boxes, bins and bags doing nothing. Silver lining is that it started getting a little chilling in my neck of the woods about 2 weeks ago and I decided to get my butt in gear and start stitching again. To get my mojo started I started a slight monochromatic design (Tiramisu by Glendon Place) as a little warm up and it has done the trick I am getting quite jazzed to stitch again, it also helps that the fall TV schedule is coming back on which is prime stitch time for me as I relax for the night.

So hopefully by Monday I will have gotten quite a bit done on my birthstone fairy and can post a nice photo. At this point in the year I don't think I will get my 10 projects done but if I can finish off the 8 I have picked as priority pieces I will be very happy.

Thanks for listening

3.5 months later

My goodness I can't believe I haven't posted since March.

Life has definitely gotten in my way and perhaps my lack of stitching has stopped me from posting as well.

I do have 2 finishes to show you but that's about it, as with every where in the world right now (or at least it seems) we are going through a heat wave and aside from hiding in a dark room with my ereader and air conditioner I haven't been doing much of anything else.

I have one small project I am working on to be given away to my cousin which really should only take me 2 weeks but it has lingered for about 1.5 months because of the heat. I think I am at the point that I will take it to work and work on it during my lunch break just so I can get some work on it done, with my co-worker on vacation next week I will pretty much be stuck to my desk so perhaps that is the perfect plan. After that little project I really want to work on Passione Ricamo latest design Artemisia I fell in love with her the first time I saw it and purchased it right away. Then I think I will work on a WIP but I am not sure. I told myself this year that I would have to set in plan schedule and I have kept with the idea and it really hasn't bothered me much that I have only 3 projects done this year LOL. But then again this is a hobby not a job and it should be fun.

Well without further ado here are my latest finishes.

This is RYO - Rematch in floral hues by Ink Circle, this was so much fun to work on, it lingered longer than it should simply because I had other projects I though should get done before it, but once  I started working on it the design was fun from start to finish

This is October Birthstone fairy from Vermillion for my cousin's step daughter and I am currently working on July for his youngest daughter, I did a birthstone fairy for his other 2 daughters from a previous marriage so it was only right that I did fairies for the 2 new additions. I really love these designs that are whimsical, colorful and super easy to stitch.

Well thanks for listening, hopefully I would take so long between my posts next time.

I have a happy dance

After working on this project on and off for over a year. I have finally finish Santa's Village by Country Cottage Needlework.

Excuse the wrinkles I haven't washed it yet. So I opted to put on petite beads instead of French knots on the 6 houses that needed them, I tried doing the knots but was only really able to make one actually work before I got extremely frustrated and said screw it and decided on the beads LOL.

I must say this really was fun from start to finish. There is something about Country Cottage Needlework designs that make them so enjoyable to stitch, I have quite a few in my collection.

I am now working on one of Vermilion's birthstone fairy's for my cousin's step-daughter and then I will be doing one for his youngest daughter. They are quite quick and easy so hopefully I can bang one of them out this weekend. Then I am going to work on a WIP then go back and do the second birthstone fairy, this way I don't get tired of the birthstone fairies and the second one becomes a pushed off WIP.

I am not sure what I am going to work on after that, I have a list to choose from and whatever strikes my fancy will be my next project LOL.

Well Thanks for listening.

Almost a HD

Happy New year everyone.
I didn't realize it had been so long since I last posted.......
Well the holidays were quite hectic this past year with the arrival of a new cousin, arriving on December 4, then the baby shower for the new addition, Christmas parties and then 3 days of Christmas celebrations and, so basically I don't think I stopped from December 4 till January 2nd I was so busy.
Because of that I got virtually no stitching done. I tell myself this every year, don't plan on finishing anything in December but every year I convince myself that I can, well I had 4 houses to finish on Santa's Village by CCN at the end of the November and was hoping I could finish them and have it be my 5th finish of 2014.....nope didn't happen I still have 2 houses left. So I am going to just keep plugging away on this project until its done.
I am doing something a little new this year though. I am not making a list of projects to do this year or pick a number I want finished by the end of the year. Nope, all I have done is picked a random 20 or so projects that I would like to work on and I will just work my off this list, there will be no rhyme or reason to which ones I pick or what order and at the end of the year I don't really care how many I actually finish. I just want to enjoy myself.
Well thanks for listening, hopefully in a week or two I will have a HD photo to show.
